Hello Everyone, Welcome, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Rose. I am the founder, owner, and operator of the Genealogy Research Guide Website. My reason for starting this site is that I have a passion for genealogical research and have a desire to provide relevant information, ideas, and resources, to enhance our research.
I became hooked on searching for my ancestors when I was introduced as a young mother and just starting a family many years ago. My passion for researching my ancestors has always been a part of me, and I have relished every opportunity to pick up where I left off.
I have taken the opportunity to participate in several training courses, workshops, lectures, seminars, and have learned a lot along the way from personal experience.
I am so excited about sharing what I have learned and still learning.
What sparked my interest in Genealogy
It all started many years ago, as indicated above as a young mother with my extended family. I became so interested and enjoyed helping with my children’s paternal ancestral line. It was so exciting to learn about their lives through journal entries, census documents, letters, etc.
It was a few years later that I became interested in my ancestral history.
So then it all started but, only as a hobby at first because other responsibilities made it difficult to devote the amount of time I would have liked. I’m sure that sounds familiar to many of you but, that is life sometimes, having said that I was never discouraged.
When I was able to spend more time researching and discovered that I came from an impressive heritage, I became even more hooked. It is hard to express the excitement I felt seeing another ancestor. And becoming obsessed with wanting to find out more about each person; it can be quite addictive.
Why do I want to help?
To excite others about the rewards of Genealogy Research.
There is such a deep satisfaction in discovering where you came from not only in the 2 or 3 generations that you already know. Digging farther back finding ancestors who fought in wars, faced persecution, hardships, death of several children were explorers, builders, dignitaries, farmers, hunters, traders, they might have traveled across lands and oceans to find a new home, maybe they were treasure hunters, pirates, outlaws, etc.
My point is, we read and study the history of people from around the world. And their contributions on the world stage. Which is quite fascinating in and of its self, but, can you imagine finding the same type of input that your ancestors made, just not published? I love getting to know them and imagine how they might have felt during their hardships and triumphs. I know many of you already know what I am talking about and I hope to spark more interest in this already favorite subject of Genealogy.
Why the Genealogy Research Guide site?
I desire to provide a place that anyone can visit and find direction to a multitude of sources and information to assist in searching for their ancestors. My focus will be Links to various training courses, advice from professionals. As well as how to organize your research, the importance of source material links to popular sites to do original research. And programs that will help with the organization of family trees and much more.
Thank you for stopping by I do very much look forward to working with you.
